Poincaré-Hopf inequalities

In this article the main theorem establishes the necessity and sufficiency of the Poincaré-Hopf inequalities in order for the Morse inequalities to hold. The convex hull of the collection of all Betti number vectors which satisfy the Morse inequalities for a pre-assigned index data determines a Morse polytope defined on the nonnegative orthant. Using results from network flow theory, a scheme is provided for constructing all possible Betti number vectors which satisfy the Morse inequalities for a pre-assigned index data. Geometrical properties of this polytope are described.

     

Fourier-Feynman transform, convolution and first variation

We examine several interesting relationships and expressions involving Fourier-Feynman transform, convolution product and first variation for functionals in the Fresnel class F(B) of an abstract Wiener space B. We also prove a translation theorem and Parseval's identity for the analytic Feynman integral. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.     

Ergodic isospectral theory of the Lax pairs of Euler equations with harmonic analysis flavor

Isospectral theory of the Lax pairs of both 3D and 2D Euler equations of inviscid fluids is developed. Eigenfunctions are represented through an ergodic integral. The Koopman group and mean ergodic theorem are utilized. Further harmonic analysis results on the ergodic integral are introduced. The ergodic integral is a limit of the oscillatory integral of the first kind.

Heterochain model for simultaneous long‐chain branching and crosslinking. III. Multicomponent polymerization

The matrix formula developed in the context of heterochain theory, M?_w = M?_wp + WF ( I ? M )^?1 S , was applied to describe the molecular weight development during free‐radical multicomponent polymerization. All of the required probabilistic parameters are expressed in terms of the kinetic‐rate constants and the various concentrations associated with them. In free‐radical polymerization, the number of heterochain types, N, needs to be extrapolated to infinity, and such extrapolation is conducted with only three different N values. This matrix formula can be used as a benchmark test if other approximate approaches can give reasonable estimates of the weight‐average molecular weights. The moment equations with the average pseudo‐kinetic‐rate constants for branching and crosslinking reactions may provide poor estimates when the copolymer composition drift during polymerization is very significant. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A greedy algorithm for multicut and integral multiflow in rooted trees

We present an O(min(Kn,n²)) algorithm to solve the maximum integral multiflow and minimum multicut problems in rooted trees, where K is the number of commodities and n is the number of vertices. These problems are NP-hard in undirected trees but polynomial in directed trees. In the algorithm we propose, we first use a greedy procedure to build the multiflow then we use duality properties to obtain the multicut and prove the optimality.     

On Weak Solutions of an Integral Equation Driven by a p-Semimartingale of Special Type

We consider the integral equation driven by a standard Brownian motion and by a fractional Brownian motion. Sufficient conditions under which the equation has a weak solution are obtained.     

Boundedness of Multilinear Operators on Herz Type Spaces： Extreme Cases

In this paper, two classes of closely related multilinear singular and fractional integrals,which include the commutators as special cases, are studied and their boundedness on Herz type spaces is discussed. In fact, it is proved that these operators are actually not bounded in certain extreme cases.
